Last week I had a business lunch with a naturally thin person. Someone who has been thin her entire life. I am pretty sure this lady came from the planet Mars on a mission to give us earthlings the secret to being thin. You would not believe what she ordered for lunch!
She started off with a bowl of the French onion soup with cheese. For her entrée, she ordered the double cheese gourmet burger with bacon and avocado. And for her side, she had the combination platter of French fries and onion rings.
I ordered a salad with grilled chicken.
If you were a fly on the wall, this is what you would have observed: She ate two spoonfuls of soup and pushed it aside. She then ate three or four bites of the burger and about eight or 10 French fries and onion rings.
You could tell she really enjoyed all 15 or so bites of food. You also would have noticed that it took her about 30 minutes to eat. But what was really noticeable was that she only ate about 20 percent of her food, max. I estimate that she left about 1200 calories on her plate. None of those calories entered her mouth and made it to her stomach.
I only left about 50 calories of my grilled chicken salad on my plate. However, that is a major accomplishment from someone who typically cleans his plate. (I learned about plate cleaning from my parents who lived through the Great Depression, and it’s been a hard habit to break.)
This brings me to weight loss tips 9 and 10 of 100.
