We have published several blogs recently about Tiny and his weight loss journey. In this guest post, he talks about what has inspired him along this journey and what keeps him going today.
I have climbed many mountains during my life. The battle of successfully losing weight has been the biggest mountain I have ever dreamed of climbing, especially because there have been several obstacles in my path.
Losing 300 pounds while working in a fast food restaurant is unbelievable, and it took a lot of self-discipline. I learned that no matter what situations we face on our climbs to success, it’s important to take it one day at a time and one step at a time.
Everything in life is mind over matter, and when losing weight, you have to make up your mind that you want a change. More importantly, you have to be willing to do the work to reach your goals and make them a reality.
For me, there were three main things that were crucial to losing weight.
- The first rule to losing weight is to learn to love yourself. Once you love yourself, you will not likely eat food that can be harmful to your body. This can be a big challenge to start out with, but I believe we can all do it.
- It also worked really well for me to make a daily schedule that I stuck with. I made time to work out, time to rest and time to eat. Every day I work on consistency, and I love seeing results and feeling better as I get better at it.
- Of course it’s also extremely important to learn how to eat healthier. This means reducing fast food urges, which has obviously been hard for me since I work at a fast food restaurant. But I take time to shop for whole fruits and vegetables, which I really enjoy now. I also love looking for sales and bargain price items. The extra benefit to eating healthy food and less fast food is that I’m able to save hundreds of dollars each month on food costs.
I lost 300 pounds by being consistent, working hard and following these three tips. I am much healthier, and I save money by shopping smarter and eating smarter, which means I am now living skinnier and debt free. And if I can do it, you can too.
