I come home starved to death every night. I am not hungry during the day so I don’t eat much. I also work out pretty hard late in the afternoon. So, when I hit the front door at night, my hunger level is dangerously high.
On a 1 to 100 scale with 1 being willing to resort to cannibalism, and 100 being stuffed sick, I am somewhere around a 10. Here are a few tips that could save you from overeating hundreds of unnecessary calories when you are over hungry at night:
1. Drink one-two large glasses of ice water first thing when you enter the house. (0 calories)
2. Course 1… Have a steaming hot bowl of soup. Boullion or vegetable soup would be a good choice, but use lower calorie soups you really enjoy. (100 calories)
3. Course 2…Have a bowl of a hunger-killing, stomach filling, tongue pleasing, raw vegetable 30 minute delight. For 150 calories or less, you can have a big bowl of raw vegetables of any kind, a couple of tablespoons of salsa, chili garlic sauce, hummus and dill chips or sliced dill pickle.
This healthy snack is filled with a nice mixture of heat, spice, salt, crunch, and it fills the stomach. Take at least 30 minutes to eat this, and I promise your ravenous hunger will be gone. (150 calories)
By now, you have totally destroyed your hunger in the first 30-40 minutes with water, soup, and a vegetable delight (250 calories max). You’re now ready for the main course.
4. Main course… I would suggest plenty of vegetables, salads, and a nice serving of protein you enjoy (1 reasonable portion of food only). Take your time to taste and savor your food. Just make sure it fits on one plate.
Gauge your satiety when you have finished the main course. I promise you will be somewhere around 66 satiety, which is comfortable and perfect. If you’re serious about being skinny and debt free, you never want to experience uncomfortable fullness ever again.
Remember, it’s okay to have a sweet for taste and finality. Your sweet taste should be 100 calories or less.
