The new American Dream for millions of Americans is to be both skinny and debt free. Millions of books have been published about being skinny. And millions of books have been written about being debt free. But very few books, if any, have been written about both losing weight and getting out of debt at the exact same time. David and I committed ourselves to putting this all together in our skinny and debt free blog at www.skinnyanddebtfree.com .
We are marrying philosophies of Dr. Oz with Dave Ramsey: Weight Watchers with Clark Howard; and Susie Ormond with Dr. Atkins. We have literally researched hundreds of diet books, and have had experience getting hundreds of thousands of people out of debt over the last 40 years. So, we came to the conclusion we owed it to everyone to share some of our ideas and thoughts on the skinny and debt free blog.
80 percent of losing weight or debt is in your mind. It is important to change your mind. Not about losing weight or debt, but how you think about losing weight or debt. We will need to do a lobotomy on you.
We plan on taking your old brain out, and putting your new brain in.
Here are 2 free and easy ways to get started on your journey to being skinny and debt free:
1. Cut your weight loss goal in half
2. Cut your debt reduction goal in half.
So, if you have a long range weight loss goal of 60 pounds, change it to 30 pounds.
And, if you have a long term plan of being debt free, and have $ 10,000 in debt, change your debt reduction goal to just $5,000.
Now wasn’t that easy? It was free and just took you about 10 seconds. It might seem ridiculous but you increase the odds of losing weight and debt by making goals a little more accomplishable and realistic.
Actually, the best way to be successful in losing weight and debt is to consider weight loss goals of 3-5 pounds, and debt reduction goals of 1,000-3,000 dollars. You get the idea, right?
