As you are probably aware, there are many workout trends attempting to persuade us to try new things. Some of the popular workout trends of 2014 include: Zumba, Barre, CrossFit, Pound, Rowing, Aerial Yoga, Hot Yoga and many more. These are all great means of working out and staying in shape but in the end, they will all take a toll on your wallet.
With these alternatives, you can still take part in new workout trends without hurting your budget. Here are a few examples:
CrossFit: According to CrossFit.com, CrossFit is a strength and conditioning program. It is promoted as both a physical exercise way of life and also as a competitive fitness sport. CrossFit workouts include fundamentals from high-intensity interval training, calisthenics, strongman and multiple other exercises.
Costing anywhere from $100- $200+ for unlimited classes, CrossFit is an expensive option on the workout trends list to follow.
A better alternative for CrossFit would be to try body weight based workouts. There is no need for special equipment; as you use your body to create a natural resistance. This is also extremely convenient because you can simply do it right from home.
Zumba: According to zumba.com, Zumba is a dance fitness program that involves dance and aerobic elements. Classes are usually offered at gyms, recreation centers and churches, etc. and normally charge a monthly fee for the services.
A better alternative to Zumba classes would be to order products online such as DVDs and equipment, pay a one-time fee and use them in the convenience of your own home. You can order Zumba products from www.zumba.com and www.amazon.com.
Some of the attraction of going to the gym or a fitness studio is that you can socialize and it gives you the feeling of accountability to others. Your friends are there which makes working out fun. But, they know if you don’t show up which makes you stay on track.
You can have the same satisfaction free of cost by enlisting a friend to be your workout buddy or someone you enjoy doing activities with.
Check out this list of activities that won’t cost you a dime (and you can do with friends):
